Renown Israeli guitarist Amos Hoffman, who is also one of the world’s leading Oud players, will be combining his talent with bassist Elisa Pruett from Charlotte, North Carolina on March 9, 10 and 11 at How Art Thou Jazz Club (HAT), from 8-11 pm.
Hoffman first came to fame touring the world with bassist Avashai Cohen, also from Israel. He became interested in jazz as a teenager and is part of the large contingent of jazz musicians that have recently rose to prominence in Israel and beyond. Aside from being a superlative guitarist, Hoffman also plays the Oud, a guitar like instrument that is common in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
Pruett is one of the top jazz bassists in both North and South Carolina and was featured with Richie Cole and Lew Tabackin in previous premier performances and will be playing with Cole again when he appears on April 21-22. Pruett, who has never met Hoffman, is one of the most entertaining and adventurous bass players that you will see around here and is frequently called on to make the long road trip from Charlotte to satisfy the demands of many of the better local jazz performers including Frank Puzzullo and Jon Thornton.
